Romeo Effs is founder and CEO of Lumorus, a global consultancy that helps businesses and their leaders redefine their corporate governance and leadership to bring about positive, structural change. 

Romeo brings over 25 years’ experience as a boardroom level corporate executive and business owner to those with whom he works. He is guided by the core belief that true leaders strive to bring out the greatness that lies within both themselves and others. Romeo’s varied experience and staunch beliefs give him the unique advantage of knowing first-hand what it takes to grow professionally and develop a mind-set for success.  

In addition to his current role as CEO of Lumorus, Romeo is Chair of the IBRIE Foundation, a charitable foundation that seeks to equip underserved communities in the UK, Jamaica and Ghana with tools which help them generate and use new ideas. He is also Chair of the Wandsworth Oasis (the UK’s 3rd largest HIV Charity), Trustee of the Youth Business International (founded by Prince Charles). Additionally, Romeo is Advisor to the Board of Banx for Institutions and a lecturer at London South Bank University. 

Romeo holds a dual MSc in Finance, Supply Management & Trade from Cass Business School.  An avid believer in continuous development, Romeo has trained as an executive coach with the Tavistock Institute and continues to deepen his understanding of organisational leadership at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. 

Maurice (Tony) Ewing, PhD, FRM

Maurice “Tony” Ewing is a board- and executive-level consultant, public speaker and former banking executive that has advised numerous Fortune 500 and several globally systemically-important banking institutions (G-SIBs) spanning more than 60 countries. After leading the data science team that created the world’s first mobile-lending product suite in 2010—later resulting in “Google Card”—Tony became the Chief Risk Officer of the banking group that first launched bank account-linked, mobile payments. In 2016, he was approached by one of China’s largest state banks to create a direct/digital bank and to advise them in developing a similar, mobile-based lending suite to compete with the BATs (i.e., social media giants, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent and WeChat, etc.) Since that time, Tony has worked with numerous boards and executive teams, guiding them in over $4 billion of investment, governance, compliance, risk culture and change initiatives. In addition to his work as a senior trainer with Euromoney, Tony is the CEO of Conquer Risk, an investment information provider, that evaluates risk-adjusted returns, political risks and governance for various economies along with risk-related consultancy. Tony is also on the Executive Education faculty of the University of Cambridge and has a column on Forbes. A certified Princeton behavioral scientist, Tony was a PhD student of Nobel Laureates John Nash and Daniel Kahneman and a dissertation advisee of Ben Bernanke.

Anna is a highly regarded consultant, trainer, and coach specialising in performance management, leadership and personal effectiveness. She has 15 years international experience of management consultancy with PwC and IBM, focussing on business modelling and balanced scorecards, and set up her own business, Achieve Balance, in 2008. Her passion is helping people and organisations increase their focus and productivity to achieve success while improving their health and work-life balance. Her clients include SMEs, individuals and groups from larger organisations and her roles include:

  • As a consultant, clarifying strategy and designing and  implementing performance management and process improvement solutions to achieve strategic success
  • As a trainer, delivering bespoke courses on meta skills, personal effectiveness and leadership

Atul Shah

He has published books on Boardroom Diversity, Ethical Finance, the Politics of Banking, Celebrating Diversity and Reinventing Business Education, all of which are widely used and cited. He has also written a number of research papers in top scientific journals, and is a sought after speaker and advisor. 

Presently, he is a Professor at City, University of London and working on a new theory and model of Inclusive Finance. Professor Shah’s broadcast credits include Channel 4, BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, and he is also the most prolific expert on Business Ethics for The Conversation. 

In 2010 he completed a 1500 mile Masala Tour of Britain which was profiled in the Guardian. His writings have been featured in the Financial Times, Economia, City A.M., Guardian and other media.

Carol Hagh

Carol is currently researching a book on gender equality and leadership. She is an Ambassador for Women on Boards, a high-profile network of 30,000+ female leaders in the UK, promoting and developing female non-executive directors. She was previously the head of the UK insurance practice for Spencer Stuart, a leading global executive search and leadership consulting firm. She placed executive and non-executive directors; worked with boards on leadership succession; and published on leadership and talent management. During this time, she had the opportunity to meet and assess thousands of top executives and gain an understanding of what makes them successful and the barriers they face in their careers.

Prior to this, she had a career in digital transformation and customer centricity in financial services. She has held executive roles with Aviva and Aegon, spanning digital, innovation, customer strategy and corporate strategy, across multiple geographies. She was in digital consulting with Sapient, working in a variety of industry sectors. She began her career as an actuarial trainee with Prudential Financial and EY.

Carol received her MBA from INSEAD and graduated from Harvard with a BA in Computer Science. She is a dual US/UK citizen and has lived in five countries.

She holds a PhD in education, is a certified Stakeholder Centered Coach (Marshall Goldsmith) and has a range of accreditations from recognized global organizations. Grace is also a Coaching Scientist and book contributor to ‘The Coaching Science Practitioner Handbook’ published May 2020.

Grace has over 11 years of outstanding leadership experience and an unwavering commitment and passion to empower leaders and their teams to reach their goalswithout compromising their well-being.

She specialises in leadership growth, team building, dynamics, diversity and inclusion, neurodiversity, building resilience, and offering a wealth of practical and realistic ideas and strategies to achieve and maintain outstanding business outcomes.  

Grace utilises her experiences in working and living in countries across the UK, Europe, Africa, and Asia to bring strong cultural awareness and an intuitive, non-judgmental style to her clients and coaching. Her pragmatic, common-sense approach, interpersonal skills, and her can-do attitude to coaching helps clients ignite their potential without negotiating their well-being.

Salma is an accomplished global ICF accredited coach and ILM accredited facilitator.  Her specialisms include brain-based coaching, diversity, inclusion and cross-cultural coaching and solution focused coaching.  Her coaching approach enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve.  She has extensive knowledge and understanding of process as well as the variety of styles, skills and techniques appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place.  To encourage and support client’s coaching experiences she will simultaneously challenge, stretch and support coaches to identify practical actions, shift mindsets and achieve coaching goals.

She currently coaches clients in the legal, financial and tech sectors across the globe. 

An experienced facilitator, Salma has a credible track record of facilitating sustained behavioural change in organisations using a range of leadership and coaching approaches.  

Academically she holds an MSc in International Business and a First Class BA (Hons) in Business.  Professionally, Salma is a licensed practitioner of numerous psychometric instruments and is BPS Level A and B certified.   

In her spare time she can often be found doing one of three things, photographing the weird and wonderful, hosting dinners or getting stuck in at her allotment.
