Ruth Odih is an accomplished corporate governance professional, currently serving as an Assistant Company Secretary at Centrica Plc and as a Faculty Member at The Corporate Governance Institute. Ruth’s unique blend of legal acumen and commitment to good governance make her an invaluable asset to both her employer and her professional peers.

Ruth completed her LLB Law at Coventry University, where she specialized in contract law, employment law, property and equity, the English legal system, EU law, and constitutional and administrative law. She furthered her knowledge by obtaining a Masters in Law (LLM), focusing on Law and Development at The University of Manchester. Her academic background forms a strong foundation for her current role in corporate governance.

She launched her professional journey with Hurricane Energy Plc, where she served as Assistant Company Secretary and later as Deputy Company Secretary. Since November 2021, Ruth has been fulfilling her role as an Assistant Company Secretary at Centrica Plc, a leading energy and services company.

In her current position, Ruth assists in ensuring that Centrica Plc complies with financial and legal requirements, as well as maintaining high standards of corporate governance. Her responsibilities include dealing with matters pertaining to the board of directors, their committees, and shareholder relations.

Parallel to her corporate role, Ruth is also a Faculty Member at The Corporate Governance Institute. Here, she contributes her extensive knowledge and skills in training, corporate governance, executive reporting, and conference speaking.

She is also actively involved in promoting inclusion and diversity in the energy sector, as demonstrated by her ongoing engagement with the Tackling Inclusion and Diversity in Energy (TIDE) Taskforce. Additionally, Ruth serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Next Generation NED Network, further extending her influence and contribution to the field of corporate governance.

Ruth is also recognized for her active participation in professional events and platforms. Notably, she was a speaker at The Women’s Company Secretary Circle event in West End, England.
